GERALD AND MARY TOZER met in the early sixties when they were both studying at Reigate School of Art which was renowned for the success of its students in the fields of fine art, printmaking, sculpture, heraldry and textiles, the latter having connections with Liberty of London.

Gerald has exhibited in England and the United States and is also represented in the Government Art Collection.  As a student he assisted Francis Spear in producing stained glass windows for Cape Town Cathedral and taught part-time at Reigate School of Art. In 1969 he was appointed lecturer in Printmaking at East Surrey College.  The majority of Gerald’s paintings derive from forms found in inhabited landscapes such as farms, quarries, fortifications etc and  man-made objects which have a patina from weathering, wear and neglect.  These are developed into a series of paintings to which he will often return when he sees further possibilities.
